Parent-Teacher League Events

The following is a brief description of the events PTL  organizes/supports each year:

Fundraisers - Each year, we generally hold two fundraisers. Examples of some of our fundraisers includes offering families the opportunity to purchase items such as wrapping paper, Christmas items, candy/snacks, magazines, etc. We have also held a Cookie Dough fundraiser before the Christmas holidays. Proceeds from these fundraisers are used to purchase classroom supplies, update technology and fund school-wide events.  

PTL Meetings – Parent-Teacher League meetings are held regularly throughout the school year. ALL PARENTS are encouraged to attend meetings to help plan school events.

Back to School Nights – Held in August and September, these are nights to give enrolled families an opportunity to learn more about the plans for the school year. It is also an evening to visit your child’s classroom, meet teachers and see some of the work that has been completed up to that point. PTL may provide refreshments for this event.

Fall Festival – This annual event is anticipated by both the school families as well as the community. Each classroom sponsors a game, and many other activities are held throughout the day, including a variety of vendors and other types of entertainment.

Fall Hayride - This event was added to the PTL event line-up in the 2015-2016 school year. Families may enjoy an evening outside with a bonfire, hayrides for all ages, chili dinner and more. 

Christmas Float Preparation – Each November, The City of East Ridge sponsors a Christmas parade held the Saturday before Thanksgiving. BCA parents work to build a float and gather participants for the parade.

Christmas Program – This is a school-wide musical event held before the week we are dismissed for Christmas holidays. Teachers prepare the program to include each grade in the service. PTL volunteers provide refreshments following the program.

Candy Cane Shop – Undoubtedly a favorite among students, this is a week for the children to go “Christmas shopping” for their family and friends without having to be dropped off at the mall. From funds raised through PTL events, we are able purchase a variety of items from which they may choose. The children buy these items, have them wrapped by our shop staff and take them home to put under their Christmas tree! This is held during the first full week of December each year.

School-Wide Dance - This family event is held on a Friday evening, generally in February or March,  and includes music, line dances, games, snacks and more and is open to all ages.

Doughnuts with Dad/Muffins with Mom – We hold these events separately, on a Friday morning from 8:15 to 9 a.m. (generally scheduled during the second semester of school.) Parents, or other special family members or friends, are invited to join their child in their classroom to enjoy fellowship and light breakfast refreshments.

National Lutheran Schools’ Week – This event, generally held each January, is coordinated through the Development department as well as our faculty and staff, but PTL volunteers are needed to help with events throughout the week. Each year (generally held in late January), we celebrate National Lutheran Schools’ Week. As this time approaches, you will be more informed of the week’s events, but in brief, each day has a fun theme with the week ending with a special day to celebrate grandparents. The Scholastic Book Fair is open to families throughout the week as well.

National Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week – This is a time to honor teachers and staff, with each day offering a different way to shower them with gifts or services that show thanks for their hard work all year long. This is generally held in late April/early May.

Faith Family Day or Field Day – This end-of-the-year finale is held for all students and families. Events include a hamburger cook-out, sponsored by the PTL, as well as a Talent Show, games and other fun activities for all to enjoy.
